Courageux begins brightly.

Italian bergamot provides crisp aromatic citrus while sweet orange gives the opening warmth and roundness.

Clary sage introduces a dry, green quality through the centre, softened by the subtle floral character of Damask rose.

Then the woods appear.

Cedarwood gives the composition natural structure while frankincense brings a quiet resinous warmth.

Vanilla sits gently underneath it all — smoothing the fragrance rather than making it overtly sweet.

Perfumer’s Notes

Courageux explores energy without sharpness.

The citrus opening needed to feel vivid but sophisticated, so aromatic materials were used to give it greater texture and depth.

Clary sage plays an important role through the heart, creating a bridge between the brighter citrus notes and the dry woods underneath.

Vanilla is intentionally restrained.

Rather than functioning as a gourmand note, it softens the edges of cedarwood and frankincense and gives the fragrance a more rounded finish as the candle warms.

Our fragrances are developed with the same attention to composition found across the wider BB Fragrances collection, layering fine-fragrance ingredients, essential oils and botanical materials to create scent with dimension rather than a single obvious note.

The First Burn Matters

On the first burn, allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface of the candle before extinguishing.

This helps establish an even melt pool and supports a more consistent burn throughout the life of the candle.

Before each subsequent use, trim the wick to remove excess char and maintain a clean, controlled flame.

Never leave a burning candle unattended, keep away from children, pets, draughts and flammable materials, and always follow the safety instructions supplied with your candle.
